Halloween Drinks

So, it seems this year we will be celebrating Halloween from our homes, but that doesn’t mean we have to change what we do much. There are loads of ways to get spooky at home and making themed drinks is one of them.

The Jack-O-Lantern (Recipe by Colleen Graham)

Ingredients – 1 1/2 ounces cognac, ½ ounce orange liqueur, 1-ounce orange juice, 2 ounces ginger ale (to fill), Garnish: orange wheel and lime twist

Gather the ingredients. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake the cognac, liqueur, and juice. Strain into an old-fashioned glass over fresh ice. Top with ginger ale. Float an orange wheel with a lime twist poked into the top. Serve and enjoy!

The Candy Corn (Recipe by Colleen Graham)

Ingredients – 1 (750 ml) bottle gin, 1 cup popcorn, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup pomegranate juice, Skin from 1 orange, Skin from 1 lemon, ½ ounce Moscato wine, ¾ ounce citrus peel grenadine syrup, 3 candy corns

Popcorn Gin – Pour the gin into a container with an airtight lid and add the popcorn. Save the bottle for the finished infusion. Allow it to infuse for approximately 24 hours. Fine strain the popcorn and rebottle. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Citrus Peel Grenadine Syrup – In a saucepan on the stove, dissolve the granulated sugar into the pomegranate juice over medium heat. Once dissolved, add the citrus skins and simmer for 10 mins. Remove the skins and chill the syrup. Bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Cocktail – In a cocktail shaker, combine the kettle corn gin, Moscato wine, and citrus-infused grenadine. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with the candy corn. Serve and enjoy!

The Halloween Hypnotist (Recipe by Colleen Graham)

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour the Hpnotiq, vodka, and lemon juice. Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lit glowstick. Serve and enjoy!

Vampire Kiss Martini (Recipe by Colleen Graham)

Ingredients – 1 ½ ounces vodka, ¾ ounce raspberry liqueur (Chambord), 1 ½ ounces sparkling wine, Red sugar.

Gather the ingredients. Rim a cocktail glass with red sugar. Pour the vodka and half of the Chambord into the glass. Top with Champagne. Pour the remaining Chambord over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the drink. Serve and enjoy!

Swamp Water Surprise (Recipe by Colleen Graham)

Ingredients – 1 3-ounce package gelatine (any flavor), 1 cup boiling water, ¾ cup vodka, 2 ounces rum, ¼ ounce curaçao (orange or blue), 1-ounce orange juice, ½ ounce lemon juice

Plasma – Gather the ingredients. In a mixing bowl, dissolve the gelatine in boiling water. Stir in the vodka and set the bowl in the freezer. Just before the gelatine sets up completely, whip it with a whisk to form lumps. Let it set for at least 5 minutes.

Cocktail – Gather the ingredients. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour the rum, curaçao, and lemon and orange juices (If you want to add to the murkiness, use orange juice with a lot of pulp for the cocktail). Mix in shaker. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Carefully spoon the plasma into the glass. Serve and enjoy!

The Black Widow (Recipe by Colleen Graham)

Ingredients – 2 ounces black vodka, 3 ounces cranberry juice

Gather the ingredients. Pour the cranberry juice into a highball glass filled with ice. Float the vodka on top by pouring it over the back of a bar spoon to disrupt the flow. Or you can slowly drizzle the vodka onto the cranberry juice for a swirling effect. Serve and enjoy!
