Benefits Of Drinking Green Tea

This past year, I have made the switch from coffee to green tea. I still like and sometimes drink coffee but I discovered how good green tea is for you. I originally started drinking it to cope with acne but found out all the amazing things it can help with as well. At first, I didn’t like it at all and was basically forcing it down but now I actually crave it and feel better starting my day with it over coffee. Because of my still growing love for it, I thought I would share all the reasons why green tea is good for you.

Weight Loss

Drinking green tea actually helps to increase your metabolism. It helps to increase weight loss when you are working out and also burn natural fats. Don’t expect it to make you skinny overnight but it does give a helping hand along the way.

According to some studies, it helps to regulate the glucoses levels by slowing the rise of your blood sugar after you eat. It also helps to prevent high insulin spikes.

Heart Disease

A lot of scientists think that it also works to help keep the lining of your blood vessels relaxed and capable of withstanding changes in your blood pressure. It also helps to protect against blood clots forming which is the main cause of things like heart attacks and strokes.

Oesophageal Cancer

it helps to reduce your chance of getting Oesophageal Cancer and it also thought to help kills cancer cells in general without damaging healthy tissue. It is thought to target the cancerous cells without causing damage to healthy ones which is something regular cancer treatment has trouble doing. Drinking green tea wont cure cancer but it gives small help in preventing it.

It also helps to improve your cholesterol. It reduces the bad cholesterol in your blood and improve the ratio of good and bad.

Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s

Amazingly, it is also said to delay the effects of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. through studies on mice it showed that green tea helped to protect the cells in your brain from dying and actually restored some of the damaged cells.

Tooth Decay

If genetics (or lack of hygiene) have left you with teeth trouble, drinking green tea can actually help. Studies have suggested that the chemical antioxidant found in green tea helps to destroy bacteria and viruses that lead to things like throat infections, dental caries, bed breath and loads of other dental conditions.

Theanine is found in tea leaves and is also thought to provide relaxation and tranquilizing effects that help with mental health.

Anti-viral and Anti-bacterial

Green tea is also antibacterial and can help with treating many different illnesses, serious or not. It has also been shown to stop the spread of many different diseases.

The reason I started drinking green tea was due to skincare. It apparently helps with wrinkles, signs of aging, acne and sun damage. This is due to it antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Brain Function

Along with keeping you awake and alert, it is thought to actually improve the function of your brain. It doesn’t contain as much caffeine as coffee and you can by decaf but it has enough caffeine to cause a response in your body without the bad side effects.

Those are just some of the many benefits of drinking green tea. I read that you have to drink it 3 to 5 times a day in order to get the full effects so I normally drink it with my breakfast, lunch, dinner, when I’m getting ready for bed and then extra cups if I fancy them. I hope this will convince more people to try drinking green tea and give information to people who already want to drink it.
