Places To Drink In Edinburgh

I like a drink and I definitely get bored of going to the same places over and over. Edinburgh is the perfect city to never visit the same bar twice. I have already written a post about things to do in Edinburgh but I purposely stayed away from food and drink so I could write separate posts about my favourite places to go.

I’ve been going to Frankenstein’s for a long time now. I always enjoy my time there. It has a good atmosphere, good music and good drinks. It has a horror theme focused around Frankenstein’s monster and sometimes the monster is lowered down from the ceiling to rise once more. They have a main bar that includes balcony seating and multiple rooms for gigs and comedy acts. They also have large projectors playing movies (normally Frankenstein) and once a week do a Rocky Horror Night where people get up onto the bar and perform the songs.

The Three Sisters

The Three Sisters is a great place to go for a drink. They have a huge outside area with bars and food trucks along with an inside bar and multiple rooms for gigs and comedians. I normally go there during the Fringe to drink in the courtyard and see shows. They also have very large outside screens that they show movies and sports on. At Christmas and Halloween, they usually host outdoor movie nights.

Nearly every time I go to Edinburgh, I end up going to Stramash. It’s a great place to have drinks and listen to music with a stage for live bands and performers. There is two layers just like Frankenstein with one layer being a balcony. It is always packed when I go in there and I have met some amazing people there as well. It is always good fun and I recommend going there during the Fringe especially.

The Pop Up Geeks

The Pop Up Geeks is a bar I recently discovered. It is a bar that changes its theme to different ‘geeky’ TV shows and movies. They have done Game of Thrones, Star Wars, The Walking Dead and many more. For anyone that loves to geek out and get a little merry at the same time then this bar is definitely for you. I am really excited to go as soon as I can.

The Banshee Labyrinth

For any thrill seekers, this is apparently the most haunted pub in Scotland. It is a family run business for alternative entertainment that has seven rooms including three bars, a pool room, a gig room and a 50-seat cinema. They are constantly having events, gigs, movie nights and much more claiming you will defiantly remember your visit. They also take bookings for functions.

Hopefully these suggestions will get you out of boring pubs like Wetherspoons and give you experiences you will remember forever. Life is all about experiencing new and exciting things, there is no point doing the same thing everyday going to the same places every weekend when you could be out living life to the fullest every chance you get.
