My Bedroom Décor

I have never had a properly decorated bedroom until I moved into my current house. Since I began decorating it, I have become obsessed with finding budget friendly items that can help bring my room together. People have commented on my bedroom before and so I thought I would write about my furniture and décor telling you where I got things and what they are so you might be able to find inspiration when decorating your room.

I think every bedroom needs a large mirror. You need something to check out outfits, maybe do your makeup and dance in front of. I originally had one I got off amazon but it broke when I moved so, I bought this one from B&M. I actually broke the frame by dropping it when I bought it home but it was easily fixable with some tape.

Bedside tables are an obvious one. Even though its only me, I like having a table on each side. It’s a good place to put décor, necessities and other small things. I got mine from IKEA when I was shopping for new furniture. I used to use a pile of books stacked high enough to reach when in bed but I didn’t think this was a long-term option.

I love bedding, I think it can really make up a room. You don’t have to spend a crazy amount of money on good bedding though. I get all my bedding from ASDA so it is cheap but still looks good. I prefer floral bedding but I just get whatever I like really, I make sure it will match my bedroom and also feel good to sleep in.

I spoke about this wall hanging in my Amazon favourites post but as this is a post about décor, I thought I would talk about it again. I had this big empty space on my wall and needed something to fill it. When I bought this, I had mainly white furniture, white walls and not much colour and I didn’t want to buy a plain white wall hanging so this one was perfect. The blue makes it unique to other hangings and gives that bit of colour that my room needed at the time.

I never really saw the appeal with salt lamps until my sister got one. It made her room look so warm and inviting and was a source of low light to have at night before going to sleep. I know they are meant to have properties that make you chilled and stuff but I honestly just wanted one because I thought they looked nice. I got this one from Amazon.

Once I got bedside tables, my books and DVDs where just a pile on the floor that made my room look messy. I wanted some shelves to display my books and favourite DVDs on along with some decorative pieces. All the ones I saw online that fit the style I wanted where all expensive or weren’t quite what I wanted until I saw these in Homebase, exactly what I wanted and didn’t break the bank.

Although I don’t use them too much, I always have fairy lights in my room. I think they give my room a nice atmosphere and honestly make the space look good even if it is messy. I used to have ones in the shape of flowers but I wanted some plain ones that will go with anything in any room. I got these ones from Amazon, they where a lot longer than I expected but I just wrapped them around twice.

With any vanity, you need a mirror. I used to have just small cheap ones that sat on my desk until a friend bought me a hanging one because she felt bad for me. I used that mirror for a couple of years until the style of my room outgrew it and I thought it was time for a new one. I looked at inspiration pictures online and fell in love with circle mirrors. I didn’t want my room to only be black and white so I went with this gold from B&M one to give some colour to my vanity space.

I originally wanted a vanity with black metal legs and a marble top but couldn’t find a budget friendly one so, I instead went for this one from IKEA that matches the rest of my furniture. Obviously, this is not a vanity but a desk and so has features like the space at the back for cables and small draws for paper and stationary but, it works well and I have grown to love it. It is quite large and so I have plenty of room to make a mess when getting ready.

When looking at bedroom ideas online, a lot of them had wall grids. I couldn’t find one I liked in a size I wanted until my mum came home with this one. It is perfect to keep tickets, important reminders, pictures, jewellery and sunglasses without creating a mess. I definitely think every room needs something like this. I can’t remember where she actually got this one but I have seen plenty similar at many different stores.

My wardrobe isn’t exactly the biggest and so I knew I needed a big chest of draws. These ones from IKEA are perfect. I had never seen them in person until I went to someone’s house who had them and I fell in love. They are a perfect size to store plenty of clothes and some other things as well such as my makeup and skin care.

I have got many compliments on my lampshade. A lot of people ask me where I got it but unfortunately, I got it from a charity shop and so don’t know where you can get one like it. I wanted a lampshade like this for a long time but couldn’t find one I liked enough until I found this one. It is the perfect size and style for my bedroom and I think it is one of my favourite things I own.

The rest of my room is made up of small décor pieces that I think just look good. Things like plants, pictures, hats, storage and candles. I might do a post talking about all these little pieces in the future. I am constantly working on my room and thinking of/finding new ways to make it something I am proud to show off to people. I think having a nice room is important, especially if you live with other people. It is your private space that you can use to relax and get away from the rest of the world so it should reflect who you are and what you like.
