Amazon Favourites: Part Two

A few weeks ago, I posted about some of my favourite products from Amazon but I still have some more items that I love and want to share with you. Online shopping has become a regular thing for me to do during this pandemic and although I should be saving money, I love shopping. I feel like most people love shopping and owning nice things so I am going to continue recommending products in the future from a multitude of different retailers. But for now, these are nine more products I love from Amazon.

RFID blockers

When everyone started switching to contactless, I held off for as long as possible before getting a new card. When I finally got contactless, I was worried that it would be too easy to spend a lot of money as it didn’t feel like I was actually using my bank account and my worries came true. I’ve spent a lot of money using contactless but it is also a time saver and so easy to use. With contactless came many stories of people getting their card stolen and people using machines to take money from your card even when it is still in your purse/wallet. I heard about RFID blockers and got some for my cards. Basically, they are little pouches you slip over your cards for when they aren’t being used and it stops people being able to use the contactless feature when you don’t want them too.

Floss threaders

I had braces for eight years, yes eight. I found it difficult to care for my teeth properly has I had metal wires and squares restricting my access when cleaning them. Dentists recommended I buy so many different products from them or specific retailers to help me but they were so expensive and could only be used a small number of times before running out. I now have a permanent retainer on the back of my teeth that still restricts my access when trying to floss, so I googled dental floss for braces and found a product for only £1.99! I made a mistake by not actually reading the description or looking at the picture properly and didn’t realise it was threaders instead of floss. This was definitely a happy accident as now I can buy regular floss and thread them through my retainer instead of having to order special floss online.

Retainer Brite

As well as having to wear a fixed retainer, I have to wear a clear retainer as well. Obviously wearing something in your mouth all the time will make it dirty and just like cleaning your teeth, you need to make sure you clean the things that look after your teeth. Once again dentists recommended that I buy expensive products from them directly but instead I took to Amazon and ordered a cleaner for my retainer. These tablets are perfect for what I need. All you do it put your retainer and one tablet in a bowl/glass of water for 15 minutes and it kills 99% of odour-causing bacteria, removes plaque, removes tartar and cleans and brightens. It can be used to clean clear retainers, wire retainers, clear aligners, sports mouthguards, nightguards, bruxing appliances, TMJ appliances and dentures.

Wireless charger

When I got my new phone, I wanted to stop using regular charging cables, they always break and are slow at charging. I bought a wireless charging mat to have on my bedside table and I haven’t used a cable since. All you need to do is plug it into a USB plug and it works automatically, just place your phone on top and its charging. It charges fast and works for both Apple and Samsung products.

Wall hanging

As my Dad was in the army, I never saw much point in decorating my room. I would make do with things I had but my room was mainly plain furniture and a bed. When we settled back in Scotland for good, I decided it was time to actually have a nice-looking room. I couldn’t afford to buy expensive décor and so would look on sites like Amazon for nice items to make my room look better. I looked for pictures of rooms I wanted to use as inspiration and a lot of them had woven wall hangings. I found this one and love it so much. It fills a big empty wall and fits the theme of my room perfectly.

Hanging basket

Another thing I noticed with my inspiration pictures was plants. I now have a few plants in my room but don’t have that much space for them. I wanted a hanging basket of some sort but found none that would fit well in my room. My mum found these woven plant holders and got one for me, it is white so will pretty much look good in any room and is perfect for hanging different sized pots and plants.

Change box

I have always had piggy banks or at least tubs/jars to keep my spare change in. Before buying this, I kept my spare change in a Jack Daniels tin and it definitely didn’t look good in my room. I wanted to have something that matched my room and so I found this change box. I love the way it looks and that you can see inside, for me it feels good to know how much money I have sitting around and in case of emergencies (or to quickly grab money for a takeaway) the back comes off giving you access to the money you’ve saved.

Record player

I have always loved music and wanted to have a record player. I am still slowly building my collection of records but the player I have is perfect. It is light, a great colour and easy to use. The name below is not the exact one I have because they no longer sell it on Amazon but it is a close copy. It comes with a charging cable so it doesn’t need to be plugged in all the time, 3 speed settings, a headphone port, a port to plug in your phone and sounds good at all volumes.

Lamp

Another thing I needed for my new room was a lamp. Every lamp I looked at was too big or wasn’t nice or was really expensive. I ended up finding this one on Amazon and it is perfect. It used to be available in different colours and so I got one with silver metal instead of copper as I had a feeling the copper trend would be over quickly. You can buy nice looking light bulbs for it as well so you don’t have to worry about it looking stupid with a big ugly white bulb.

So, there are some of my other favourite things from Amazon. I find new stuff all the time so there may be another post like this in the future and I might do this for other retailers as well. For me, having nice things sometimes makes me feel better and right now when there is nothing else to do but sit in my room and so buying new nice things is helping.
